This website is written by one person: the non-Catholic partner in a mixed-faith couple going through Catholic wedding preparation. That perspective is the whole point of the site, and it also means you should know exactly what this site is, and what it is not.

Personal experience, not official guidance

Married to a Catholic is an independent, personal project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for the Catholic Church, any diocese, parish, or religious organization. Everything here reflects my own experience of preparing to marry a Catholic as a non-Catholic, supported by research into publicly available Church documents.

Not legal or canonical advice

The guides reference canon law (notably canons 1086 and 1124–1125) and Church documents because that is where the rules actually come from. But I am not a canon lawyer, a priest, or a theologian. How the rules are applied varies between dioceses, parishes and countries. The dispensation process, required paperwork and preparation courses in your diocese may differ from what I describe.

Always confirm the specifics of your situation with your parish priest or diocesan office. They are the only ones who can tell you what applies to your wedding. Nothing on this site constitutes legal, canonical, or pastoral advice.

Accuracy

The guides are written to be evergreen and I keep them as accurate as I can. Still, Church practice evolves and local rules differ, so I cannot guarantee that every detail applies to every situation. If you spot something outdated or that worked differently in your diocese, let me know. Corrections make the site better for the next couple.

External links and products

Some guides link to external websites. I link only to sources I consider useful, but I am not responsible for their content.

Digital products offered on this site are sold through Gumroad, which acts as the merchant of record. Your purchase contract is with Gumroad, not with me, and its terms of sale apply. I write the products and provide support for them. The refund terms I offer in addition to that are set out on the Terms of Sale page.

Using this website

All content on this site is provided for general information only, free of charge, and you use it at your own responsibility. Nothing here creates any advisory or professional relationship between you and me, and I accept no liability for decisions made on the basis of the site’s content. If something matters for your wedding, verify it with your parish or diocese first. They decide, not this website.
